The Rogers Sisters

Love As Laughter

As a native Angelino I’m still trying to discover new venues out here in New York and Brooklyn, and tonight I went to the Secret Project Robot. I’ve heard The Rogers Sisters before but I never had the opportunity to see them live. After a 7 year hiatus, they reunited to play a benefit show for their friend Letha, who has been battling cancer for the last few years. It was a great show for a great cause. They opened up their set with X’s Your Phone’s Off the Hook, which, of course, is always a good sign for a die hard X fan like myself. Every single song was fantastic and the venue, like some of other independent spaces I’ve been to in Brooklyn, had that zine-y DIY art space feel to it. For those of you in LA, just think of something like The Smell. In fact, the more time I spend here, the more I begin to feel that downtown LA is really just trying to be like certain sections of Brooklyn. Or maybe not. I don’t know, I just got here. I’m not really in a position to make sweeping generalizations, but I have a feeling that the internet has had some kind of equalizing effect with cross-country influence. Either way, it was a cool show tonight and I’m sure there will be many more to come. Stay tuned.

This is a one of a kind tour single recorded in Brooklyn & Baltimore in the span of a few days with good friends.
